QUAKE REPORT: BREAKING NEWS! How's this for irony? This morning, I was in my second floor office in San Clemente, California, and the rocking and rolling started. Earthquake!
I was on the phone with a print reporter for an interview on "The Crisis Bucket," one of the 20 buckets in my new book, Mastering the Management Buckets: 20 Critical Competencies for Leading Your Business or Nonprofit. (For more info, visit the Management Buckets website.)
I had just commented to the reporter that companies need to "drill, drill and drill again" in the Crisis Bucket--in case of earthquake, flood, fire or other crises. Yikes! Then the 5.4 earthquake hit us here in Southern California! It was the most severe earthquake I've felt in my 15 years in California.
Management lesson? "Plan now for your next crisis. It's not if you'll have a crisis, but when."
